The Feed-in Tariff Program (FIT) was enabled by the Green Energy and Green Economy Act, 2009. The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) is responsible for implementing the FIT Program.
Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff Program is North America’s first comprehensive guaranteed pricing structure for renewable electricity production. The program provides a way to contract for renewable energy generation. It includes standardized program rules, prices and contracts for anyone interested in developing a qualifying renewable energy project. Prices are designed to cover project costs and allow for reasonable return on investment over the contract term.
Qualifying renewable fuel sources includes biogas, renewable biomass, landfill gas, solar photovoltaic (PV), waterpower, onshore wind and offshore wind.
You can be part of Ontario’s growing green energy movement, make money and contribute to a cleaner environment. If you are a homeowner, farmer or small business owner, you have the opportunity to develop a very small or “micro” renewable electricity generation project (10 kilowatts or less in size) on your property. Under the microFIT program, you will be paid a guaranteed price for all the electricity your solar panel array produces for at least 20 years.
We install a custom designed system on your south facing roof. That system generates thousands of kilowatts of electricity each year. The Ontario Power Authority then buys this electricity at a pre-determined rate for twenty years, guaranteed! This amounts to thousands of dollars of solar generated revenue each year for the duration of your 20 year contract. Knowing that your solar panel array has a 40 year life expectancy, your return on investment is considerable.
